e1470a8c 65## Getting started
22555b55 66
e1470a8c 67Homer is a full static html/js dashboard, generated from the source in `/src` using webpack. It's meant to be served by an HTTP server, **it will not work if you open dist/index.html directly over file:// protocol**.
b79e6ed1 68
b102c9b2 69See [documentation](docs/configuration.md) for information about the configuration (`assets/config.yml`) options.

71### Using docker
72
e4537f13 73To launch container :
74
b79e6ed1 75```sh
b102c9b2 76docker run -p 8080:8080 -v /your/local/assets/:/www/assets b4bz/homer:latest
b79e6ed1
BW
77```
78
b102c9b2 79Default assets will be automatically installed in the `/www/assets` directory. Use `UID` and/or `GID` env var to change the assets owner (`docker run -e "UID=1000" -e "GID=1000" [...]`).

e4537f13 81### Using docker-compose
82
83The `docker-compose.yml` file must be edited to match your needs.
84Set the port and volume (equivalent to -p and -v arguments) :
85
86```yaml
87volumes:
88 - /your/local/assets/:/www/assets
89ports:
90 - 8080:8080
91```
92
93To launch container :
94
95```sh
96cd /path/to/docker-compose.yml
97docker-compose up -d
98```
99
100Default assets will be automatically installed in the `/www/assets` directory. Use `UID` and/or `GID` env var to change the assets owner, also in `docker-compose.yml` :
101
102```yaml
103environment:
104- UID=1000
105- GID=1000
106```
107
e1470a8c 108### Using the release tarball (prebuilt, ready to use)
b9c5fcf0 109
b102c9b2 110Download and extract the latest the latest release (`homer.zip`) from the [release page](https://github.com/bastienwirtz/homer/releases), rename the `assets/config.yml.dist` file to `assets/config.yml`, and put it behind a webserver.
e1470a8c 111
b9c5fcf0 112```sh
e1470a8c
BW
113wget https://github.com/bastienwirtz/homer/releases/latest/download/homer.zip
114unzip homer.zip

b102c9b2 116cp assets/config.yml.dist assets/config.yml
e1470a8c 117npx serve # or python -m http.server 8010 or apache, nginx ...
b9c5fcf0
BW
118```
119
e1470a8c 120### Build manually
b9c5fcf0
BW
121
122```sh
123# Using yarn (recommended)
